Carroll and Elizabeth Newingham started breeding Paint
horses in 1980. We started out with a young APHA stallion named
Shay-D-Chief, and a few AQHA mares. "Shady" was sired by Skip-A-Shay.In
1982, Shady sired his first foal crop. He sired four foals. One was a
filly named CCS Spoiled Rotten. She became an APHA champion, Youth
Champion, and Amateur Champion. A second filly named CCS Cover Girl was
foaled. She was named "cover girl" because she had the looks to become
a cover girl. This name could not have been more accurate! "Cover Girl"
became the Top Open APHA honor roll mare in Western Pleasure in 1985.
Elizabeth was on the APHA National Honor roll in Amateur Western Pleasure.
Cover was retired with 431 open western pleasure points. Cover Girl was
the mare that started the C&C Paints success and legacy.
In the
spring of 1985, Carroll acquired a 2 year old stallion named Gran Loot,
sired by Royal Loot. The bloodlines of this stallion go back to Leo,
Joe Reed, and Three Bars. The addition of Gran Loot started a VERY
impressive line of breeding for us. Over the past 20 years, there have been
dozens of APHA Champions sired by Loot, and out of Cover Girl mares.
The CC before a horses name means it was PROBABLY bred by C&C
Paints. This has become a trademark for Carroll and Liz. Over the
years, many people include the CC in front of a name. To discover how
many successful C&C bred horses there are, visit the APHA webpage
and click on performance reports.
